Inauguration of Karachi’s National Stadium set for tomorrow
The newly renovated National Stadium in Karachi is scheduled to be inaugurated Tuesday (tomorrow) evening with a vibrant ceremony featuring fireworks and a stunning light show, and entry will be free for the public.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced that the stadium’s reconstruction, which began on September 28, 2024, was completed on January 31.
The pavilion has been completely rebuilt, and new seating has been installed throughout the venue.
The upgraded stadium now boasts advanced LED floodlights, modern score screens, and improved sightlines for spectators, with barriers removed for a better viewing experience. All hospitality boxes have also been refurbished to enhance comfort.
Naqvi commended the hard work of laborers and the collaborative efforts of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak), contractors, and the PCB team.
He assured that world-class facilities are now available for both fans and players in anticipation of the upcoming Champions Trophy.
The inauguration will feature performances by well-known Pakistani musicians, including Ali Zafar and Shafqat Amanat Ali. This event follows the recent inauguration of Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, which also underwent significant renovations.
