India facing three major injury concerns ahead Champions Trophy
With the Champions Trophy just days away, Team India faces significant challenges heading into the tournament. While considered favorites, several key issues threaten their chances of success.
The most pressing concern is the fitness of star bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah sustained a back injury during the recent Test series against Australia and, despite being named in the squad, his participation remains uncertain. His absence would leave a significant gap in India’s bowling attack, as other bowlers lack the same experience at the international level.
Adding to the concerns is the poor form of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Both key batsmen have underperformed since the 2024 T20 World Cup, struggling in series against New Zealand and Australia. Their contributions are crucial in ICC tournaments, and a continued slump in form could severely impact India’s run-scoring ability.
Finally, the wicket-keeping position remains unresolved. While KL Rahul is the first-choice keeper, his recent form has been inconsistent. Rishabh Pant is a potential replacement, but a decision will likely depend on Rahul’s performance in upcoming matches against England.
This uncertainty adds another layer of complexity to India’s preparations. The team needs to address these three key areas to maximize their chances in the upcoming Champions Trophy.
