The government of Pakistan has declared February 8 a national day of mourning to coincide with the funeral of Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslim community.

A government notification announced that all government buildings across Pakistan will fly their flags at half-mast on that day.

Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, passed away on February 4.

News of his death prompted an outpouring of grief from millions of Ismailis worldwide, who revere him as their spiritual leader.

The Aga Khan, known for his philanthropic work through the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), has significantly impacted numerous countries through initiatives in health, education, and rural development. His passing marks the end of an era of significant leadership and humanitarian contribution.
