Bodies of four more Pakistani victims of Morocco boat tragedy to arrive tonight
The bodies of four more Pakistani victims of the recent Morocco boat tragedy are expected to arrive in Pakistan on Wednesday. The remains will be transported to Islamabad aboard Saudi Airlines flight SV726. This follows the identification of 13 Pakistani victims yesterday.
The boat, carrying migrants attempting to reach Spain via West Africa, capsized on January 16th, resulting in the deaths of 50 people, including at least 44 Pakistanis. Walking Borders, an organization advocating for migrant rights, confirmed the incident, stating that the vessel sank during an attempt to reach Spain from West Africa.
Moroccan authorities reported rescuing 36 people from a boat carrying 86 migrants, including 66 Pakistanis. A subsequent statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Office confirmed the tragedy, stating that approximately 80 passengers were on board the vessel.
The Foreign Office previously released a list of 21 Pakistani survivors. The ongoing recovery and identification efforts continue to unfold.
