World’s 10 most powerful countries revealed
The United States continues its reign as the world’s most powerful nation, according to a new ranking by Forbes India based on data from US News & World Report. The ranking, which considers factors such as economic influence, political standing, military strength, international alliances, and leadership, places the US firmly ahead of its global competitors.
China takes the number two spot, showcasing its growing global influence through initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative. This ambitious project aims to connect Asia, Africa, and Europe through extensive land and sea trade routes, boosting economic development and trade across the globe. China’s technological advancements, especially in AI and 5G, further solidify its position as a major global player.
Russia secures third place, leveraging its substantial natural resources and military capacity to maintain a significant role in global geopolitics. Its ongoing space program, including the planned Venera-D Venus lander mission, underscores its commitment to scientific exploration.
The United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, France, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Israel round out the top ten. Each country’s position reflects a unique blend of economic strength, political influence, and military capabilities. The UK focuses on post-Brexit trade deals, while Germany champions green energy initiatives within the European Union. South Korea and Israel maintain their technological leadership, while France and Japan focus on digital transformation and chip manufacturing respectively. Saudi Arabia’s vast oil reserves and close ties with the US continue to provide significant leverage.
The methodology for the ranking, developed by the BAV Group and researchers from the Wharton School, uses an equally weighted average across the five key attributes. The report highlights the multifaceted nature of global power, emphasizing that a country’s standing is not solely determined by its economic output but also by its political influence, military strength, and the effectiveness of its international alliances.
The full report, [available on Forbes][1], offers a detailed analysis of each country’s strengths and challenges, providing valuable insights into the shifting dynamics of global power in 2025. The report also notes that India ranks 12th in this global power ranking.
