PTI not in contact with establishment, says Gohar
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was not in contact with the establishment, party chairman Gohar Ali Khan said on Tuesday as security sources deny that Chief of the Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has received any letter from jailed former prime minister Imran Khan.
“Regardless of the institution or its head, the military belongs to the people. The party currently has no contact with the establishment,” he told reporters in Islamabad.
Gohar claimed that there was indeed a meeting in October, during which discussions were held regarding the law and order situation; however, no political demands were made during that meeting.
He asserted that the PTI would continue its political struggle, as peaceful gatherings, rallies, and protests are constitutional rights of every citizen.
When asked about any demands made during the October meeting, he replied, “No, no, this was the first meeting.”
He went on to add that the party would continue its struggle under constitutional limits. “Khan Sahib had expressed a desire to write a letter as a former prime minister, in which he openly shared his thoughts. If a response is received, we will welcome it.”
