Shahid Kapoor addresses controversy over comments from podcast
Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor has clarified that his recent remarks made during a podcast were not a jab at superstar Salman Khan.
Deva actor’s comments went viral amid the release of his movie’s release, raising debates about self-importance in the film industry.
In a podcast with Raj Shamani, the Haider actor humorously critiqued some actors for having what he described as an “inflated sense of self,” leading many to speculate that he was indirectly referencing the Sultan actor. The “interpretation” prompted backlash from fans and media alike.
In response to the criticism, Shahid addressed the issue at the HT City’s Stars in the City event in New Delhi. He expressed surprise at the misinterpretation, stating, “I didn’t even think when I was responding, I just said it like this.”
He emphasised his respect for Salman, asserting, “If I want to take a dig, it will never be at somebody who is so senior and established and who I have so much respect for. Just to clear it out!”
His comments come as he anticipates a successful box office opening for Deva, with early estimates suggesting it could earn between Rs5 to 10 Indian crore, bolstered by impressive advance bookings.
