In a development regarding the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, authorities have confirmed that the facial recognition test of the arrested suspect has matched the individual captured in CCTV footage from the incident.

Saif was attacked on January 16 when an intruder entered the actor’s residence. Police launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, who is reportedly a foreign national.

The Mumbai Police announced that the facial recognition test corroborated that the suspect was indeed the same person seen in the CCTV footage, Indian media reported.

“Arrested accused Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad’s facial recognition tested positive, confirming his identity matches that in the CCTV footage,” they said in a post on X.
