US billionaire says Pakistan visit is for ‘business’ not talks
A leading US billionaire investor, Gentry Beach, heading a delegation of American investors in Islamabad, has declared his intention to invest billions of dollars in Pakistan, dismissing misunderstandings about the country and criticizing the Biden administration’s policies toward Pakistan.
Speaking to journalists, Beach emphasized that his visit was purely for business, not negotiations. He highlighted numerous investment opportunities in Pakistan, particularly in minerals, energy, and real estate. He expressed confidence in a new era of global peace and prosperity, praising Donald Trump’s approach to economic diplomacy and asserting alignment between the Pakistani government and the new American leadership.
Beach also addressed the controversial involvement of Richard Grenell, an aide to Donald Trump, stating that he believed Grenell had been misled by a deepfake video related to the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. He expressed respect for Pakistan’s judicial system and highlighted the historical ties between Pakistan and the United States.
Beach stressed his visit was independent of the US government’s economic diplomacy, emphasizing a desire to improve housing accessibility for Pakistanis. He acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and stated that the US recognizes these contributions.
