The acceptance ratio for long-term UAE visas, for five years, is around 90% to 95%, a travel consultant said on Tuesday as the Emirate boosts its tourism and job market.
“It has a logical reason as it requires around 3,000 dirham security deposit,” Basit Safdar said while appearing on Aaj Pakistan. “So, those people who do not participate in it who are involved in illegal activities.”
A tourist visa is for those who are not eligible for a visa on arrival or a visa-free entry to the UAE, according to the UAE government.
The multiple entry five-year tourist visa enables tourists to enter the UAE multiple times on self-sponsorship and remain in the country for 90 days on each visit and can be extended for a further 90 days. This type of tourist visa can be issued for all nationalities.
Safdar added that only those people can apply for such visas that are “genuine businessmen or work”. The 3,000 dirhams are refunded after five years the person returns to the country, he added.
When asked, he said: “Visas are granted very easily. Around 90% to 95% of people are getting acceptance very easily. The same documents are required. You just have to show your bank statement, consisting of, a closing balance of around $4,000. You will get the visa easily after showing the amount.”
To obtain this visa, the applicant must have: a bank balance of 4,000 USD or its equivalent in foreign currencies during the last six months, a valid health insurance policy applicable in the UAEm a ticket to and from the UAE, proof of stay (hotel/residential address) in the UAE.
Applicants must have a coloured photo, a copy of their passport, medical Insurance, bank statement for the last six months with a balance of $4,000 or its equivalent in foreign currencies, a tour programme, and a ticket for onward journey.

While speaking about visas for Thailand, he said the Southeast Asian country introduced its e-portal for visa applications. The change has reduced processing times to just three to four working days.
Safdar noted that some individuals have been misusing this opportunity by uploading fraudulent documents.
Authorities have confiscated numerous counterfeit online documents and the Federal Investigation Agency has apprehended several culprits at the airport due to the issue with fake documentation.
He added that the Thailand Embassy has announced “strict action” against people uploading fake documents on e-portal.
