A German influencer has picked up around 100kg of trash in Pakistan so far in his journey and he plans to collect more until he leaves the country towards the east.

“I have picked up 4.2 tons of plastic trash since starting my journey from Germany on January 1,” Tobias Riesch told old Shaukat Piracha of Aaj News.

The anchorperson’s Saturday show Rubaroo was based on foreign travellers. He met with foreigners and got to know about their experience of living in the country.

Riesch, who has been to Balkan countries, Greece, Turkiye, Armenia, and Iran, said that he planned to travel to Australia. He runs an Instagram account with the name of thecollectors2.2kg.

According to him, the most adventurous part of his journey was in Balochistan. “It is a different style of travelling to have a police escort all the time with you. It was adventurous but not scary. I always felt safe.”

When asked about his motivation behind the decision, he said that pollution was one of the biggest issues in the world. He added that it started with a little effort to clean a river in Spain but it turned out to be his hobby by which he was bringing some change.

“Now I am trying to become an ‘influencer’ with his topic,” Riesch said and added that he planned to travel to Kalash Valley and Chitral. I am very curious to what I find there.“

He stated that mountains have been the biggest attraction for him.

“I am overwhelmed by how open people are to foreigners. I come from Germany and we have the reputation to be close and cold sometimes, I feel very welcomed in Pakistan.”

In response to a question about misperceptions about Pakistan, Riesch said that everybody accepted him as a friend. “I never had the feeling somebody will do something with me, police are with me, but sometimes I think I would be safe without the police.”
