Pakistanis are still open-minded despite changes, says German tourist revisiting country after 40 years
The people of Pakistan have changed as they are still open-minded and welcoming, said a German tourist revisiting the country after 40 years.
“I came to your country [Pakistan] 40 years ago. Time is changing and now it is different as traffic has increased. Travelling is not as free as before. I like coming here for the second time as your people are the same, open-minded and welcoming,” Rudolf, standing alongside his wife Mariana, told Shaukat Piracha of Aaj News.
The anchorperson’s Saturday show Rubaroo was based on foreign travellers. He met with foreigners and got to know about their experience of living in the country.
His wife said that they have been to Quetta, Sukkur, Lahore, and Islamabad. They entered Pakistan via Iran.
When asked, Rudolf said that he did not want to find a new home as the camper van was enough for him. “It is not like a common van for carrying much load. It is an off-road van. It is for the expedition.”
He added that they don’t have plans to end the journey. “I am near 80. I have been driving for years. We don’t know where we will reach. We don’t want to get back to Germany. We sold our home.”
In response to a question, Rudolf said: “We cannot take our home to the grave. We want to have a good life up to our end, travelling. Travelling is a mobile life.”
