Karachi’s national stadium renames enclosures to former cricketers
The Karachi’s national stadium would rename several enclosures as it nears completion for the Champions Trophy 2025, a report said.
The Majid Khan Enclosure would become the Younis Khan Enclosure and the Quaid Enclosure would be renamed after Shahid Afridi. The Zaheer Abbas Enclosure would honour Nazar Mohammad, Geo Super reported.
Two new VVIP enclosures at ground level, seating 1,050, would be named after Majid Khan and Zaheer Abbas.
Construction updates showed significant progress, with three floors completed and partition work underway on the top floor. Final touches are being made to the Prime Minister’s Office.
The National Bank Stadium is also nearing completion, with project director Bilal Chohan confirming it would be ready by January 31.
India would play their Champions Trophy matches in the United Arab Emirates next year after hosts Pakistan selected the Gulf country as a neutral venue for their rivals, the Pakistan Cricket Board said.
The Pakistan Cricket Board recently announced the relocation of the upcoming tri-nation ODI series, originally set to take place in Multan, to the newly upgraded Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, featuring Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa on January 8.
