Flight disruptions in Delhi due to fog; cold wave persists across North India
Foggy conditions in Delhi have led to significant flight delays at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday morning. The India Meteorological Department reported a temperature of 12.6 degree Celsius at 5:30am.
The Central Pollution Control Board recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 262 at 8am, categorizing the air quality as “poor.”
To protect vulnerable populations, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board has set up 235 night shelters for homeless individuals amid the harsh winter conditions.
In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where the Mahakumbh festival is underway, dense fog also affected visibility as thousands gathered at the Sangam for holy rituals.
The temperature in Prayagraj was noted at 12.8 degree Celsius at the same time.
Other regions, including parts of West Bengal and Odisha, experienced similar foggy weather.

In Kashmir, the cold wave continues, with Srinagar recording a low of -0.5 degree Celsius this morning.
The IMD has forecast potential rainfall in Punjab, Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, and northern Rajasthan later today.
