Indian film ‘Game Changer’ struggles at box office
Indian movie Game Changer has struggled at the box office despite the hype it created before its release, media reports said.
The filmmakers claimed that the decline in box office collections was due to the leak of a pirated HD version. Following its release, earnings plummeted on nearly all days except January 14. On Saturday, the earnings fell by 12.73%.
As per film industry tracker Sacnilk, Game Changer earned 2.31 crore Indian rupees net by Sunday, slightly down from 2.4 crore Indian rupees the previous day.
It entered its second week on Friday, January 17, and collected 2.75 Indian rupees crore net. Consequently, the total domestic box office collection stands at 125.11 crore Indian rupees after a robust opening of 51 crore net.
The movie, directed by Shankar Shanmugam, earned 176.50 crore Indian rupees gross at the global box office by Day 9, according to Sacnilk. Produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations, the film generated 30.25 crore Indian rupees gross from the international market and 146.25 crore Indian rupees at the domestic box office.
“I am not completely satisfied with the output of Game Changer. I should have done better,” The Indian Express quoted Shanmugam as saying.
“Many good scenes have been trimmed due to time constraints. Total duration came down to more than five Hours. We have cut down a few things to acquire a sculpture,” he shared.
