The Brutalist comes under fire for using AI
Oscar contender The Brutalist has faced backlash due to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the movie.
In a recent interview with RedShark News, editor David Jancso revealed how artificial intelligence (AI) played a crucial role in enhancing the realism of Hungarian pronunciations in film.
While the team attempted to utilise automated dialogue replacement to improve audio quality, they found it insufficient. Instead, Jancso turned to AI to enhance the dialogue, resulting in a more authentic listening experience.
In addition to its applications in film, Jancsó also employed AI in architectural design, which contributed to significant cost savings.
The film has faced significant backlash following the revelation of its use of AI. Audiences have taken to various social media platforms, such as Reddit and X, to express their dissatisfaction with the choice to depend on AI technology.

The movie is based on the true story of Holocaust survivor Laszlo Toth, played by Adrien Brody. The film chronicles Toth’s journey to America and his career as an architect. Throughout the story, he grapples with addiction, financial difficulties, and the pressures of international fame.
The Brutalist received positive reviews, but it did not recoup its production costs at the box office.
