Lahore’s Jamia Naeemia has issued a fatwa condemning the use of illegal means for overseas travel, declaring it unlawful and against Shariah principles.

The religious edict was issued by Dr. Mufti Raghib Hussain Naeemi and Mufti Imran Hanfi in light of increasing migrant boat tragedies that have resulted in numerous fatalities.

The decree emphasizes that actions leading to self-harm or endangering one’s life are prohibited in Islam.

It warns that anyone who takes such drastic measures cannot be accepted in the faith under any circumstances.

The fatwa advises individuals to seek legal and safe methods for traveling abroad.

The decree criticizes agents and middlemen who charge fees for facilitating illegal travel, urging the government to implement laws targeting those who exploit vulnerable individuals.
