American tennis player Danielle Collins drew attention during her post-match interview at the Australian Open after defeating local favourite Destanee Aiava.

Collins, the 10th seed, celebrated her win with provocative gestures, including blowing kisses to the crowd and slapping her backside while also expressing her gratitude for the “big fat pay cheque” she would receive.

After a tense match that ended 7-6, 4-6, 6-2, Collins faced a chorus of boos from the audience at the Kia Arena. “If I’m out here, I may as well take that big fat pay cheque,” she said and highlighted her intentions to use her winnings for lavish vacations.

Her comments, which included thanking the crowd for their support, were met with mixed reactions.

Collins has already secured £147,000 in prize money and is set to face Madison Keys in the next round.

At a press conference, she reiterated, “The people that don’t like you and that hate you actually pay your bills.”
