Shell Pakistan Limited rebrands as Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited
The Shell Pakistan Limited has rebranded itself as Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited, effective January 13, 2025, the company said in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
“The company is pleased to inform that the SECP has issued a Certificate of Incorporation on Change of Name dated January 13, 2025. Consequently, the company’s name has changed from ‘Shell Pakistan Limited’ to ‘Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited’ with effect from January 13, 2025,” it said.
In October of the previous year, SHEL’s Board of Directors approved the proposal to adopt the name Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited. The decision followed Wafi Energy Holding Limited’s acquisition of an additional 22,165,837 ordinary shares of SHEL, which accounts for approximately 10.36% of its total issued share capital.
Earlier in July, Saudi Group Asyad Holding, through UAE-based Wafi Energy Holding Limited, acquired 165,700,304 shares, gaining control of 77.42% of Shell Pakistan Limited.
The change follows the issuance of a Certificate of Incorporation on Change of Name by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
The company also provided a copy of the SECP’s Certificate of Incorporation to confirm the name change.
The SECP has officially certified the name change of Shell to Wafi Energy Pakistan Limited.
For the next ninety days, it said that the company must display its former name alongside the new one at all business locations and in all official documents and notices.
