Accountability court seems to be ‘following orders’: Barrister Ali Zafar
Barrister Ali Zafar said that it is probable that the accountability court is ‘following orders’ and has been asked to delay the verdict in the 190 million case once again.
Speaking in Spot Light on Aaj News on Monday, Barrister Ali Zafar said that Imran Khan wantes the verdict in the 190 million case to be announced quickly.
He added that as Imran Khan is in jail, bringing him to court is in the power of the authorities and he can be presented within 10 minutes if the decision is made.
Rana Ehsaan Afzal said that the government gets no benefit at all from a delay in the verdict in the 190 million case.
He said that the government will proceed with the negotiations irrespective of what the verdict is or when it will be announced. He added that the court should have set a practical date for the announcement of the verdict in the first place.
When asked about Malik Riaz not being included in the case’s investigation, Afzal said that Riaz being out of the country was a key factor.
However, Afzal added that the government believes that the case is an open-and-shut one and believes that Imran is guilty.
In response, Zafar said that the case is completely baseless. He said that money from a ‘crime’ is invovled in the case and the federal government failed to do its duty by protecting the money.
He said that NAB has itself admitted that the money has not proved to be from criminal sources. This, he claimed, renders the whole case useless.
However, Afzal said that there was ‘blatant’ evidence in the case as the money was repatriated to Pakistan by UK’s National Crime Agency.
