Security forces begin demolishing bunkers in Kurram
Security forces, including the army, police, and Frontier Corps (FC), launched a major operation today, demolishing two militant bunkers in the region. A heavy security presence was deployed throughout the operation.
According to Kurram Deputy Commissioner Ashfaq Khan the demolition of the checkposts is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle illegal fortifications. Four bunkers were destroyed today alone following negotiations with tribal elders and local leaders. These discussions, which included members of a jirga (tribal council), paved the way for the removal of the structures.
District authorities emphasized that stringent security measures were in place during the demolition process. The operation is part of the implementation of the Kohat Peace Accord, aimed at restoring peace and security in the area. A large contingent of police, army, and FC personnel remain stationed in the Khar Kaley Balish Khel area to oversee the operation.
Security sources indicate that further bunkers and checkposts will be demolished in the coming days.
