40-vehicle convoy stalled as business community urges 500 trucks to support Upper Kurram
The business community in KP’s Kurrum has reported that a convoy of 40 vehicles is still waiting to travel from Tal to Parachinar. They estimate that at least 500 trucks are necessary to alleviate the challenges faced by the people of Upper Kurram.
The Medical Superintendent of District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Parachinar, Dr. Syed Mir Hassan Jan, stated that all medical supplies have been exhausted at local pharmacies, prompting an influx of patients to the hospital. On average, the facility sees between 2,300 and 2,500 patients daily for check-ups, though emergency medications are still available.
Medical unions have confirmed the shortage of necessary medications in local markets, noting that yesterday’s convoy did not include any medical supply vehicles.
The protest in Lower Kurram Mandori is ongoing, with participants demanding a relief package for those affected by recent incidents and compensation for their losses. They have vowed to continue their protest until their demands are addressed.
In response, police have stated that efforts are being made to secure the roads, and they will dispatch the waiting convoy as soon as the routes are cleared.
