The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has initiated the Honhar Laptop Scholarship Program aimed at enhancing educational opportunities through technology.

This initiative seeks to distribute 50,000 laptops and merit scholarships to deserving students across Punjab within the next 90 days.

Key details of the program include:

• Laptop distribution: A total of 50,000 laptops, including state-of-the-art Core i7, 13th-generation models, will be distributed, with an initial rollout of 5,000 laptops within the first 30 days. The remaining laptops are set to be distributed by February 20.

• Targeted beneficiaries: The program reserves 2,000 laptops specifically for minority students, with additional allocations for top-performing matriculation and F.Sc students, who will also receive a ceremonial Guard of Honour.

• Scholarship categories: The distribution includes 20,000 laptops for university students, 14,000 for college students, 2,000 for medical and dental students, and 4,000 for those in industry and agriculture sectors. Notably, 32% of laptops will be allocated to students from Southern Punjab.

• Chief minister’s merit scholarship program: This initiative also supports female students by covering their full tuition fees for up to five years, benefiting 18,000 female students.
