Former Syrian president Bashar al-Assad allagedly poisoned in Russia
Reports have surfaced claiming that former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was allegedly poisoned while in Russia.
It is important to note that last month, prior to the opposition’s takeover of Damascus, al-Assad fled to Russia with his family.
Russia has reportedly provided asylum to al-Assad and his family on humanitarian grounds. However, foreign media outlets have disclosed that there was an alleged attempt to poison the ousted president in Moscow.
An online account named General S.V.R., believed to be managed by a former high-ranking Russian intelligence officer, stated that al-Assad fell ill in Moscow on Sunday.
The 59-year-old former president reportedly sought medical assistance, experiencing severe coughing and difficulty breathing.
The account suggested that there was an attempt on al-Assad’s life, with his treatment taking place in his apartment.

It is claimed that his condition stabilized by Monday, and medical tests indicated he had been poisoned.
However, the General S.V.R. account did not provide specific sources for this information.
As of now, the Russian government has not confirmed or denied the allegations regarding the incident.
