Gold prices see massive increase on first day of new year
Gold prices in Pakistan saw a significant jump on the first day of 2025, following a period of stability the previous day.
The All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association (APGJA) reported a Rs1,000 increase in the price of gold per tola, bringing the price to Rs273,600. The price of 10 grams of gold also rose by Rs858, reaching Rs234,568.
The APGJA attributed the increase to a rise in global gold prices, which climbed by $10 to $2,624 per ounce.
The surge continues a trend of significant price increases throughout 2024. Last year saw a remarkable Rs52,600 increase in the price of gold per tola in Pakistan. Globally, the price of gold per ounce rose by 25.55%, representing a Rs45,096 increase.
