Top European and English clubs Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Manchester United have prepared to capitalise on FC Barcelona’s difficulties with the registration of Dani Olmo.

The Spanish forward, who made a €50 million move to Barcelona this summer, could potentially be released as a free agent on January 1, 2025, if the club cannot officially register him due to financial issues.

The contractual clause has piqued the interest of several elite clubs, presenting a chance to secure a talented player without a significant transfer fee.

Olmo’s versatility and wealth of international experience further enhance his appeal to teams looking to strengthen their squads.

FC Barcelona is working to address its financial challenges ahead of the deadline, aiming to ensure that Olmo can be officially registered in time. Should the club fail to resolve the situation, the Spanish international will have a range of prestigious clubs vying for his services.

In a positive development, Barcelona has reportedly secured a €100 million ($104 million) cash boost by selling VIP boxes at the Spotify Camp Nou, which will aid the club’s financial recovery.

According to MARCA, President Joan Laporta orchestrated the deal to support the club during its ongoing stadium renovation and bolster its finances ahead of the Spanish Super Cup campaign.

Barcelona has received funding from the sale of VIP boxes, easing its financial concerns as the December 31 deadline approaches for registering summer signings Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. Both players were temporarily granted special clearance to participate in matches due to injuries affecting Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo.

With the financial boost, Barcelona was positioned to ensure that Olmo and Victor could contribute to the team for the remainder of the 2024/2025 season.
