These roads are open, closed in Karachi amid MWM protests for Parachinar

Protests against Parachinar killings enter third day in Sindh’s capital

Several roads are closed in Karachi as the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen protest sit-in against the Parachinar killings entered its fourth day on Saturday, with citizens complaining about traffic disruptions.

According to a traffic police spokesperson, the main MA Jinnah Road at the Numaish Chowrangi was closed to traffic. Alternative routes have been provided for commuters, directing them from 45 Congress to Peoples Chowrangi, Gurumandir, and Soldier Bazaar.

Traffic diversions have been implemented from Society Signal to Corridor Three and from Britto Road towards Soldier Bazaar and Gurumandir.

Both sides of Abu al-Hassan Isphani Road near Super Highway in front of Abbas Town are also closed.

Alternative routes are directed traffic from Paradise Bakery towards Faria Chowk and into the side streets. A diversion has been established from Ranger Cut to the service road near Punjab Adda.

Five Star Chowrangi is completely closed and traffic is being rerouted along the service road to maintain flow. Moreover, University Road near the Metro Shopping Center, adjacent to NIPA, is also closed.

An alternate route has been established to direct traffic into the inner areas. The main Shahrah-e-Faisal leading towards Kala Chapra and Malir Road is closed.

Vehicles exiting the city are being rerouted via Karsaz, Drigh Road, Millennium, and Johar Chowrangi towards Pehlwan Goth and the airport.

For those travelling to the airport from Malir, Korangi Industrial Area, and Clifton/Defence, it is advised to use Singer Chowrangi and Shah Faisal Colony Raita Plot Road.

Commuters can access the airport via Shama Shopping Centre and the bridge from Shah Faisal Colony.

Both roads leading to and from the National Highway at Malir 15 Bridge are closed. In response, an alternate route has been designated, directing traffic from Malir Halt towards Model Colony.

Traffic diversions are also in place from Manzil Pump towards Younus Chowrangi, as well as from Dawood Chowrangi towards the industrial area. Shamsuddin Azimi Road near KDA Flats, adjacent to Surjani Road, has been closed to traffic.

Furthermore, an alternate route has been established directing vehicles from Total Petrol Pump towards the service road. The Ancholi Road near Pakistan Shahrah, heading towards Sohrab Goth, was also closed.

An alternate route has been established directing traffic from Water Pump Chowrangi towards Cardio Hospital and Gulberg Chowrangi. Kamran Chowrangi was closed to all traffic.

Traffic is being diverted from the Meteorological Office towards University Road and Manzoor Chowrangi into the inner areas. Nawab Siddiq Ali Khan Road at N Nazimabad No. 1 towards Nazimabad No. 2 is also closed.

Another alternate route has been designated, directing traffic from Lasbela towards Teen Hatti. Furthermore, both sides of the main National Highway at Township are closed.

An alternate route has been established for traffic heading towards Port Qasim, directing vehicles from Thatha towards Link Road and then from Port Qasim Chowrangi towards Port Qasim.

Power House Chowrangi is closed from Nagan towards 4K Fazal Elahi Road, as reported by traffic police. Traffic is being redirected from Power House Chowrangi to the service road via the Shell Pump cut, while another road remains open for use.

Traffic police have urged passengers to exercise patience and avoid areas where protests are taking place. If travel is absolutely necessary, they advise contacting the traffic helpline at 1915 for guidance on alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
