Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed authorities to ensure a continuous gas supply for domestic consumers throughout the winter months on Friday. This directive came during a review meeting on the country’s gas supply, where the Prime Minister addressed concerns about the decreasing gas availability for households.

He emphasized that maintaining gas supply to domestic users is the government’s highest priority and highlighted that structural reforms in the energy sector are essential for a long-term solution to the gas supply challenges.

During the meeting, participants reported that there is surplus regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) in the system, leading to better gas load management compared to the previous year. The Prime Minister was informed that the duration of gas load-shedding has decreased this year.

Gas is currently supplied to domestic consumers from 5am to 10pm, and the power sector also receives gas according to its demand.

It was noted that the online dashboards of SNGPL and SSGC are operational for consumer complaints, with SNGPL achieving a complaint resolution rate of 93% and SSGC at 79%. Furthermore, all gas fields in the country are fully operational.
