PIA announces fleet expansion, new destination
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced plans to expand its operational fleet and network, aiming to increase flight frequency and reach new destinations.
A spokesperson for the airline stated that following the lifting of restrictions imposed by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), PIA is planning to expand its network to include Europe and the United Kingdom.
The airline is currently working on restoring its aircraft to operational status to support this expansion. A significant part of this involves reactivating aircraft currently in storage.
The spokesperson detailed the planned fleet upgrades: the number of operational Boeing 777s will increase to eight; the number of Airbus A320 family aircraft will reach twelve; and the number of ATR aircraft will reach two. These upgrades are part of an aggressive operational plan for 2025.
The spokesperson emphasized PIA’s commitment to expanding its network to provide more direct and affordable travel options for overseas Pakistanis through new flight routes.
The airline also highlighted its punctuality rate, boasting that it currently exceeds 90%, the highest in the country. This expansion signals a renewed focus on improving services and connectivity for PIA.
