Indian coast guard hits passenger ferry, killing 13

Rescue operations by the Indian Navy are underway to locate those still missing

A high-speed Indian Coast Guard boat collided with a passenger ferry off the coast of Mumbai, resulting in the deaths of 13 people, including three navy personnel.

The incident occurred on Wednesdayand left several others missing.

According to Indian media reports, the ferry, carrying approximately 110 passengers and navy officers, sank after the collision.

Rescue operations by the Indian Navy are underway to locate those still missing. Around 80 people have been rescued, but the number of missing remains unclear.

Four survivors are reportedly in critical condition. The Coast Guard speedboat involved in the accident was in active service at the time of the collision. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.
