Indian actor Allu Arjun has been released from Hyderabad Central Jail after spending a night in custody. This follows his interim bail granted by the Telangana High Court in connection with the tragic stampede at the Sandhya Theatre on December 4.

Outside the Chanchalguda Central Jail, heavy security measures were implemented in anticipation of the actor’s release.

His lawyer, Ashok Reddy, was vocal about his dissatisfaction regarding the delay in Arjun’s release.

“They received an order copy from the High Court, but despite that, they didn’t release the accused (Allu Arjun)… They will have to answer…this is illegal detention; we will take legal action…as of now he has been released,” Reddy said.

Arjun said he respects the law and pledged full cooperation with authorities after his release.

“For the past 20 years, I have been going to theaters to watch movies, including those of my uncles. This has always been a joyful experience, but this time, things took an unexpected turn,” Arjun explained.

“I would like to once again express my condolences to the family. It was an unfortunate incident. We are sorry for what happened,” he added.

“There is nothing to worry about. I am fine. I am a law-abiding citizen and will cooperate,” the actor said.

The actor’s legal troubles began when he was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a lower court following the incident. This ruling sparked a significant outcry, leading Arjun’s legal team to challenge the decision in the Telangana High Court.

After reviewing the case, the High Court agreed to grant him bail upon the furnishing of a bond amounting to 50,000 Indian Rupees.

The incident was the tragic death of a 39-year-old woman and left her son in a critical condition, which happened due to a stampede erupted as fans gathered to catch a glimpse of Arjun.

Police reports indicated that the stampede was triggered when Arjun, arriving at the theatre for a screening of his new film Pushpa 2, waved to the crowd from the sunroof of his vehicle.
