What are the charges against Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi in Toshakhana 2 case?
PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were formally indicted in the Toshakhana II case on Thursday; however, the defendants have denied the charges against them.
Details regarding the allegations against both Khan and Bibi have also emerged.
According to the indictment, during a visit to Saudi Arabia in 2021, a Bulgari jewellery set was allegedly not deposited in the Toshakhana, nor were the complete details of its set submitted to the state depository.
The jewellery set, which included a bracelet, ring, earrings, and a necklace, was reportedly gifted to the former prime minister’s wife by Saudi Arabia’s crown prince.
The gift has been described as “valuable and antiquities-rich.” The ring included in the set featured a pink diamond while the bracelet was adorned with pink diamonds and other gemstones. The necklace was also embellished with precious pearls and diamonds.
According to the allegations, the defendants valued the jewellery set at only Rs5.2 million through a private firm and made a payment of Rs2.9 million by “misusing” their authority. In contrast, the actual value of the jewellery set exceeded Rs71.5 million.
