South Africa announces strong squad for ODIs against Pak
South Africa has named a full-strength ODI squad for their upcoming three-match series against Pakistan.
This series represents a crucial opportunity for the team to play together before the 2024 Champions Trophy, as scheduling conflicts with the SA20 T20 league will prevent a first-choice team from participating in a subsequent tri-series against Pakistan and New Zealand in February.
The squad features nine players not included in the last ODI series against Ireland, including the return of key players Kagiso Rabada, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Keshav Maharaj, and Tabraiz Shamsi, who have not featured in ODI cricket for nearly a year.
Captain Temba Bavuma, recently recovered from injury, will lead the side, likely partnering with Ryan Rickelton at the top of the order. The experienced middle order boasts Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Tristan Stubbs, Klaasen, and Miller.
Full Squad
Temba Bavuma (capt), Ottneil Baartman, Tony de Zorzi, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Keshav Maharaj, Kwena Maphaka, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Tristan Stubbs, Ryan Rickelton, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen
