Punjab is set to initiate a robust anti-polio campaign on December 16, aiming to vaccinate over 23.3 million children against the virus. The campaign will run in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad until December 22, while it will conclude by December 20 in 33 other districts.

Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique chaired a review meeting to assess preparations for the initiative, emphasizing that eradicating polio is a national priority that requires collaborative efforts from all provinces.

He underscored the need for enhanced inter-provincial cooperation to effectively eliminate the polio virus.

During the meeting, Rafique directed officials to improve the quality of the anti-polio drive and to refine micro-plans to ensure 100% coverage.

He expressed concern over the presence of the polio virus in environmental samples, highlighting the urgency of sustained joint efforts to combat the disease.

Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir noted that international organizations have praised the Punjab government’s initiatives in the fight against polio. He announced the deployment of 85,000 mobile teams across the province to administer polio drops, ensuring accessibility for children in every area.’
