Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has confirmed that he thoroughly investigated Shaheen Shah Afridi’s background before consenting to his daughter Ansha’s marriage to the fast bowler.

Speaking at the ‘Main Hoon Karachi’ session of the International Urdu Conference, Afridi emphasized the importance of due diligence in such matters, stating that no father would entrust his daughter’s life to someone without careful consideration.

Afridi explained that despite a period of lost contact between their families after his move to Karachi, he relied on positive feedback from Shaheen’s coaches, who consistently praised the young cricketer’s character and upbringing.

He highlighted the importance of ensuring compatibility for a successful marriage and the shared responsibility of both partners in building a strong family.

While playfully deflecting questions about becoming a grandfather, Afridi confirmed that his second daughter, Ansha, married Shaheen in a ceremony in 2023, followed by a larger wedding celebration later that year.
