Where does Pakistan rank in global internet speeds?
Millions of people worldwide are now directly employed because of the internet. People exchange ideas, learn, and teach through the internet.
Shopping and payments are being made online. Accessing information is impossible without the internet. Education is being pursued with the help of the internet. The internet has also become an excellent source of entertainment. It is also indispensable for the promotion and dissemination of various arts and sciences.
Now, an important question is: what is the internet speed in different countries? Countries with faster internet speeds experience rapid growth and development in academic, business, and social activities.
While internet usage has exploded globally—with 1.5 billion more people coming online since 2018—a significant disparity exists in access and speed.
High-income countries boast internet speeds five times faster and usage rates twenty times higher than low-income nations.
Currently, Asian and Middle Eastern countries are leading the world in internet speed. The United Arab Emirates boasts the fastest speed at 428.53 Mbps, followed by Qatar (356.74 Mbps), Kuwait (258.51 Mbps), Denmark (149.73 Mbps), and Bulgaria (147.68 Mbps). This contrasts sharply with the performance of some developed nations, which lag behind.
Pakistan’s internet infrastructure falls significantly short of global leaders. Its average download speed places it around 100th globally (20.61 Mbps), and 141st in broadband download speeds (15.6 Mbps). This slow speed hinders Pakistan’s economic and social development.
