Mehwish Anwar becomes PIA’s first female flying spanner engineer
Mehwish Anwar has made history by becoming the Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) first female flying spanner engineer.
The national flag carrier’s spokesperson announced it following her completion of inaugural flight coverage.
Mehwish’s “groundbreaking flight” from Islamabad to Sukkur marked a “significant milestone” for the national carrier, as she ensured smooth engineering operations throughout the journey.
“Her unwavering commitment and consistency have made her an inspiration, and her achievement is a beacon of progress for women in aviation,” the PIA spokesperson said.
Having embarked on her engineering career in 2013, Mehwish earned her authorisation as a flying spanner engineer in 2023.
