Over 100 Pakistani traders stranded in China

The Khunjerab Pass remains obstructed by snow

More than 100 Pakistani traders and their vehicles remain stranded in China due to the closure of the Pak-China border.

Despite efforts to make the border all-season, this has proven unsuccessful. The border passes for the stranded traders expired yesterday.

The Khunjerab Pass, situated at an altitude of 15,000 feet on the Karakoram Highway, remains obstructed by snow, severely hindering the movement of vehicles.

While China has announced plans to keep the Pak-China border open year-round, the lack of snow clearance and other necessary facilities on the Pakistani side of the Karakoram Highway prevents this during winter.
