Karachi weather to remain warm but several cities to get rain, PMD says
Pakistan’s Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting a mix of weather conditions across the country over the next 24 hours. Several regions will experience rain and snowfall, while others will see dry, cold conditions. Karachi, however, is expected to remain relatively warm during the day.
The PMD anticipates heavy rain and snowfall in northern Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and the Potohar region. These areas can also expect strong winds and thunderstorms. Light rain is possible in Murree and Galyat during nighttime hours.
Punjab’s plains will likely experience cold, dry weather, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will see partly cloudy, cold conditions. Most of Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain dry.
However, some areas of Punjab and upper Sindh may experience smog and fog. The Quetta valley, Pishin, Qila Saifullah, Zhob, and Ziarat are expected to see rain and mountain snowfall, further intensifying the cold.
Despite the widespread inclement weather, Karachi’s daytime temperatures are forecast to remain warm, with highs ranging from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius. The current temperature in Karachi is 16 degrees Celsius. Winds are blowing from the northeast at 7 kilometers per hour, with humidity at 87%.
The PMD also noted that Karachi’s air quality remains poor, ranking among the world’s most polluted cities. The air quality index shows particulate matter levels at 199, indicating unhealthy air conditions.
