The Balochistan Assembly passed a resolution on Thursday to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf following protests in Islamabad, despite an opposition walkout.

The resolution, introduced by Balochistan Minister for Communications and Works Mir Saleem Ahmad Khosa, received support from several provincial ministers, including Mir Sadiq Umrani, Mir Asim Kurd Gelo, Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani, Bakht Mohammad Kakar, and various parliamentary secretaries, all condemning the PTI’s actions during the protests.

The resolution criticised the PTI for inciting nationwide riots on May 9, 2023, asserting that the party was once again engaging in violent acts and had evolved into a “political anarchist group.”

“This kind of anarchist agenda of the PTI has severely impacted every system and school of thought in the country, including the judiciary, the media, and the economy.” The resolution also pointed out that a provincial chief minister’s opposition to the federation aligns with the agenda of anti-national forces.

Meanwhile, a resolution was submitted in the Punjab Assembly to impose an “immediate” ban on the PTI. The resolution was introduced by provincial assembly member Rana Fayaz.

The Balochistan Assembly condemned the alleged use of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government resources during protests, stating that it represented an “open attack on the federation” and demonstrated the PTI’s non-political agenda.

It added that the actions of the PTI aimed to “create chaos in the country and foster discord” between the Pakistan Army, security forces, and the public.

The assembly urged the federal government to impose a ban on the PTI to alleviate the anxiety and suffering caused to the citizens by the party’s activities.
