An explosion occurred in the Prashant Vihar area of Delhi on Thursday while former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was holding a press conference.

The blast, which took place around 11:48 AM IST, resulted in minor injuries to one person.

The Delhi Fire Service confirmed the incident and quickly dispatched fire tenders to the site.

Preliminary reports indicate that it was a low-intensity blast, reminiscent of a previous incident in October near a CRPF school in the same vicinity, which was linked to a discarded cigarette.

However, the cause of the recent explosion is still under investigation.

Delhi Police sources have suggested that the explosion might be connected to earlier attempts to send a message to government authorities, although no definitive conclusions have been reached.

This incident coincided with Kejriwal’s statement declaring Delhi as “the most unsafe city in the world.” Investigations are ongoing, and further updates are anticipated.

In recent weeks, other explosions in Chandigarh, attributed to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang following failed extortion attempts, have raised concerns about safety in the region.
