Karachi woman arrested for stealing neighbor’s gold and performing Umrah
A woman has been arrested in Karachi’s Lyari area for stealing 20 tolas of gold jewelry and using the proceeds to perform Umrah.
The case was registered on October 27 at the Baghdadi police station.
Police initially arrested Imran, who revealed that his wife, Shahnaz, was responsible for the theft. Shahnaz allegedly entered her neighbor’s home while the family was absent and stole the gold.
She reportedly sold 17 tolas of the gold and used the money to go on an Umrah pilgrimage.
Police have recovered three tolas of gold and Rs1.5 million in cash from Shahnaz. Further raids are underway to recover the remaining gold and possibly arrest other accomplices. The arrests were made by Investigating Officer Saeed Ahmed of Baghdadi police station.
