Kalina Marie ‘heartbroken’ after no guests at her wedding reception
Bride Kalina Marie shared her “heartbreaking experience” on TikTok after walking down the aisle to find her “wedding reception completely empty.”
“I dreamed that I would walk into a bunch of people cheering us on. Hooting and hollering for us in celebration,” she said in her social media post accompanied by a video.
“But all you see is a woman trying to hold herself together because she had NO idea how to deal with her venue being almost completely empty.”
The bride had sent out digital invitations to 75 guests for her masquerade-themed celebration. But when she and her new husband, along with their son, entered the venue, they found it silent and devoid of attendants.
After being together for nine years and engaged for four, the couple had eagerly anticipated their wedding, which had been postponed due to the pandemic. They expressed their devastation over the lack of guests at such a significant moment in their lives.
In a poignant TikTok post, Marie captured the moment she and her husband entered their wedding reception. Accompanied by the caption, “POV: You planned the most beautiful entrance. Just to open the doors to an empty venue,” the footage reveals the couple’s disappointment.
As the couple walked in, two people were seen opening the doors, while a lone guest sat in a red T-shirt on a folded chair. Another individual appeared to be taking photos, and a third was working on a laptop, leaving the rest of the venue filled with empty chairs and tables, beautifully decorated for the celebration.
“This is our entrance to our masquerade ball,” Kalina narrated, her voice heavy with emotion as she reflected on the disheartening scene.
Initially hopeful that guests would arrive late, she had delayed their entrance. Although the invitations specified a start time of 1pm, her mother informed her at 1:15pm that no one had shown up.
Despite the disheartening news, the couple decided to wait a bit longer and finally made their entrance at 2pm, only to find five attendees present. The venue had been arranged to accommodate 40 guests, highlighting the stark contrast between their expectations and reality.

Despite feeling “sick” about the low turnout at her masquerade ball, Marie expressed her gratitude for the few guests who did attend.
“All I know is, I have my man. My baby. And the family that shows up when I need them. And for that, I will be thankful,” she wrote.
Her followers rallied around her, encouraging her to plan a redo of the celebration, promising to show up this time. A week after the disappointing event, Marie mentioned that she had not received many explanations for the absence of her other guests, leaving her with lingering questions about the turnout.
