Imran would not be in jail if deal happened: Raoof

Says talks can only happen with those in power

Raoof Hasan, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has denied any deal-making with the establishment, stating that if a deal had been made, Imran Khan would not be in jail.

Speaking on Aaj News program “News Insight with Amir Zia” Hasan acknowledged contact with intelligence and security agencies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to their significant involvement in the province.

Hasan indicated that Pakistan’s current political climate necessitates dialogue with the PTI.

He suggested that negotiations should be held with those possessing the power to effect meaningful change, clarifying that such discussions would not be for the purpose of any deal.

Separately, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) spokesperson Aslam Ghouri commented on the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

He advocated for addressing the shortage of judges in High Courts before increasing the number of Supreme Court judges, questioning whether the amendment aims to benefit the public or the government.

He highlighted JUI-F’s role in decreasinjg clauses from 56 to 22 in the amendment, suggesting that the government’s cooperation indicated a shared interest in avoiding further unrest.

Ghouri expressed reservations about constitutional amendments benefiting specific individuals or institutions. Regarding a potential 27th amendment, he stated that a decision would be made based on national and public interest.
