The Israeli embassy in Seoul sustained property damage after an unidentified individual trespassed into the building’s lobby, Israel’s Foreign Ministry reorted.

Fortunately, the embassy was closed for the Simhat Torah holiday (a Jewish holiday) and no staff members were present at the time of the incident.

The Foreign Ministry confirmed that South Korean authorities are actively investigating the matter in collaboration with Israeli officials.

Reports indicated that the intruder had not yet been located, but no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

This incident comes as Sri Lankan police arrested two suspects on Thursday for allegedly plotting a terror attack targeting an Israeli tourist location.

Israeli tourists face threat

A day prior, Israel’s National Security Council issued a warning for Israeli citizens to evacuate designated tourist areas in southern Sri Lanka due to a potential threat.

During a briefing, Police Media Spokesperson DIG Nihal Talduwa indicated that a building frequented by Israelis in the Arugam Bay region was likely the intended target of an attack.
