PM lauds opposition MNAs for voting for constitutional amendment

Sharif stated that the amendment will address the issue of delayed justice

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lauded the 26th Constitutional Amendment, calling it a milestone for political and economic stability and the fulfillment of the Charter of Democracy. He believes the amendment will contribute to the nation’s progress and prosperity.

Addressing a federal cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated all involved on the amendment’s passage.

He specifically acknowledged the significant contributions of President Asif Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Nawaz Sharif, and expressed gratitude to Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman.

He also lauded the five MNAs from the opposition who voted for the amendment.

Sharif stated that the amendment will address the issue of delayed justice for ordinary citizens in long-pending cases, asserting that the establishment of judicial benches will facilitate quicker access to justice.

He emphasized that the amendment was developed through extensive consultation with coalition partners, reflecting a spirit of collaboration among political leaders.

He further positioned the amendment as the culmination of the Charter of Democracy, an agreement reached in 2006.
