New Zealand win over West Indies to get into women’s T20 final

New Zealand secured a place in the Women’s T20 World Cup final, narrowly defeating the West Indies by eight runs in Sharjah,on Friday.

On October 18, New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat, posting a total of 128 runs for nine wickets, bolstered by notable performances from Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer.

West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin shone with the ball, taking four wickets for 22 runs, and later scored 33 runs off 22 balls to keep her team in contention.

The West Indies fell short, finishing their innings at 120 for eight.

New Zealand will face South Africa in the final, marking their third appearance in a World Cup final, having previously lost in 2009 and 2010.

Captain Sophie Devine expressed pride in her team’s resilience and excitement for the upcoming match, emphasizing their belief in victory.
