Al-Shabab vs Al-Nassr: Ronaldo’s late penalty brings dramatic finish

The first half was uneventful until Aymeric Laporte scored in the 69th minute

Cristiano Ronaldo made a dramatic impact with a late penalty, securing a 2-1 victory for Al-Nassr against Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League.

The match started slowly, with Al-Nassr appearing disjointed and fatigued after the recent international break. Al-Shabab looked more inspired, and a stunning save from Bento denied Mohammed Al-Thani early on, keeping Al-Nassr in the game.

The first half was uneventful until Aymeric Laporte scored in the 69th minute, igniting both teams’ competitiveness. Following the goal, Al-Shabab gained more possession, and Pioli made a tactical change by substituting Otavio for Ali Alhassan. However, in a crucial moment, Alhassan’s failed clearance led to an own goal in the final minute, leveling the match and frustrating his manager.

Just as it seemed both teams would settle for a draw, Robert Renan committed a reckless foul on Abdulrahman Ghareeb in the box, leading to a penalty.

Ronaldo stepped up and converted the penalty in the seventh minute of stoppage time, marking his sixth goal of the season.

The drama continued as Mohamed Simakan from Al-Shabab received a red card for a foul on Nader Al-Sharari in the box. Abderrazak Hamdallah then had the chance to equalize from the penalty spot but hit the woodwork, securing the three points for Al-Nassr as they continue their pursuit of Al-Hilal in the league standings.
