Police raid Akhtar Mengal’s apartment in Parliament Lodges

Mengla claims his party's senator has been 'abducted'

Islamabad police conducted a raid on the Parliament Lodges apartment of Sardar Akhtar Mengal, head of the Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal).

BNP acting president Sajid Tareen was present at the Lodges during the raid.

Following the raid, Akhtar Mengal alleged the abduction of a party senator from Islamabad. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Mengal claimed that Senator Kazim Rind was abducted along with his son while undergoing dialysis in Islamabad.

Mengal further stated that Senator Naseema Ehsan is confined to her apartment and that her son has also been abducted.

These events unfold as the government prepares to introduce a constitutional amendment related to judicial reforms, with sessions of the National Assembly and Senate already called.

The PTI has accused the government of offering substantial inducements to its members of parliament to secure votes for the amendment, vowing to oppose the amendment by all means.
