ITP issues traffic plan for SCO summit in Islamabad

Due to security concerns during the SCO conference in Islamabad, traffic flow in the twin cities will be affected at various times.

In this regard, the Islamabad Traffic Police has issued a detailed traffic plan for October 15 and 16.

The traffic instructions are as follows:

  • GT Road: Individuals traveling from Peshawar to Rawat can take the Taxila Motorway, Chakri, and Chak Beli Rawat Road. For those heading from GT Road to Peshawar, it is advised to use Rawat, Chak Beli Road, Chakri, and the Taxila Motorway.

  • Margalla Road: The route from G-5, G-6, and F-6 to Rawalpindi will be via Ninth Avenue. Traffic from Faisal Avenue heading to Zero Point will also be diverted to Ninth Avenue.

  • Barakahu to Rawalpindi: Travelers from Barakahu to Rawalpindi can use the Ring Road and Bani Gala Lehtrar Road. For those coming from Rawalpindi to Islamabad, the suggested route is via Saddar Road and Murree Road to Ninth Avenue.

  • Zero Point: The expressway from Faisal Avenue to Koral Chowk will be closed in both directions. To reach Faizabad from Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed Road, the Stadium Road will remain open from the Ninth Avenue signal.

  • Heavy Traffic: Heavy traffic traveling from Peshawar to Lahore can use the Taxila Motorway and the Tarnol Railway Interchange to access the Fateh Jang Motorway. Similarly, heavy traffic coming from Lahore to Islamabad and Rawalpindi via GT Road can use Chak Beli Road to access the Chakri Motorway.
